I've been preferring my days to start early and even end early (call me a grandpa - without any words I'll own it), so this trip was planned spontaneously in the early morning(sort of) and most of my quiet time and moments of inspiration come to me after I wake up early or late night AM's. Living Root bridge was on the do list for long and nowadays as I'm always brainstorming where it is exactly I want to feature next for my local travel series here on the blog. You may have noticed, that in an effort to try to encourage northeast, to show what it offers and international tourists to visit more of the Northeast India, at the beginning of this year I've decided and trying to feature as mush of different location of Seven sister States. I won't deny that till I'm only featuring Meghalaya more of, but what I can say there so much to explore till and few hours of driving from Guwahati, you reach a beyond destination.
About Living root bridge is created by joining roots of multiple trees and it allows people to cross the river below it. It requires a certain level of fitness to climb down and up 3000 steps. There also allows access to a viewpoint which has breathtaking views.
The hike and walk could be too much for some peoples but its worth the travel for sure. The place is super clean maintaining and the locals are really nice. A Tip if you are not much of a hiking person there are so many Homestay near the Double Decker Root Bridge so you may take rest at the night their & explore a bit more in the next day then return before the evening. For me, the best part of the hike was definitely around the hanging bridges or I say dancing bridge!? and I’d recommend if the water level is low you may go down on a rocky path under the bridge and see the view from there. But experiencing the shaky bridge is a must to do as well(please insert the Face With Stuck-Out Tongue & Winking Eye). There was also some small shop which sold Noodles, cool drinks, Amul kool, biscuits, and chips. Let me tell you the masala noodles at the end of it never tasted better. Next day while on my way back, alongside I stop by the places like Nohkalika, laitkynsew, cherrapunjee holiday resort for launch, & Sohra. Truly the foggy mountains and the dramatic weather only in Cherrapunji. Breathing the fresh cold air with a view, I'm always going to santé. Thank you for all your suggestions.
